Ryan Kaplan

Five days after graduating with a degree in VFX and Motion Graphics from the Art Institute in Minneapolis, Ryan moved to LA with a bike and a backpack to start his first freelance booking as an animator. He crashed on a friend’s couch in sketchy North Hollywood and saved up for his first “LA car” - an ‘89 325i BMW convertible known as the “White Shark.” Ahhh, those were the days!

Flash forward twelve years and Ryan has gained much expertise across the entire VFX pipeline, ranging from animation/compositing to finishing. He recently traded the city life for some peace and quiet in the South Bay with his wife and son. He also traded the convertible for a green ‘76 2002 BMW, and he still sometimes sleeps on the couch. Life is good!
