Project:

Skullcandy 'Crusher'

Type:

Recent, Animation, Live Action

Personifying how music and sound you feel is an incredible endeavor, and the idea of creating #BassYouCanFeel was incredibly exciting. As we dove into developing the language, we worked with the team at Skullcandy to direct Derrick Rose and concept, design and animate the effects surrounding him. We used as many tools as necessary to create the elements, never relying on a singular program. In the end, the final piece explodes in your face and showcases the intensity of Mr. Rose, giving each note in the song it’s own aesthetic personality.

“Sometimes it just feels good to simply design and make things explode.”

Behind Crusher

Transforming the scenery around Derrick was challenging as we wanted the entire composition of every shot to be full of dynamic energy without over shadowing Derrick’s movement and demeanor. All of the layers and particulates needed a reason, some kind of definition in sound so as they wouldn’t just appear lifeless or off-beat. The result was an amalgamation of energy that turned into a loud piece featuring one of our favorite athletes.
